Hugh Bonneville, Downton Abbey, PBS

Bryan Cranston, Breaking Bad, AMC

Jeff Daniels, The Newsroom, HBO

Jon Hamm, Mad Men, AMC

Damian Lewis, Homeland, Showtime

Kevin Spacey, House of Cards, Netflix

Who Deserves to Win: Bryan Cranston. As confident as I am that Spacey gives yet another masterful turn on “House of Cards”, without seeing the show, I can only speak to what I’ve seen.

Who Will Win: Bryan Cranston. He’s dominating this category and with no critical hints to the contrary this should be another victory for him.

LEAD ACTRESS IN A DRAMA SERIES:

Connie Britton, Nashville, ABC

Claire Danes, Homeland, Showtime

Michelle Dockery, Downton Abbey, PBS

Vera Farmiga, Bates Motel, A&E

Elisabeth Moss, Mad Men, AMC

Kerry Washington, Scandal, ABC

Robin Wright, House of Cards, Netflix

Who Deserves to Win: Vera Farmiga. It cannot be said enough, Farmiga gave the best performance on all of television as Norma Bates, a mind-blowing turn in every sense.

Who Will Win: Kerry Washington. She’s a primetime powerhouse with the Emmy buzz to back a victory. Claire Danes could pull an upset with her home court advantage.  “Homeland” airs on Showtime, the sister network of CBS, who is broadcasting the show.

DRAMA SERIES:

Breaking Bad, AMC

Downton Abbey, PBS

Homeland, Showtime

Game of Thrones, HBO

House of Cards, Netflix

Mad Men, AMC

Who Deserves to Win: Game of Thrones. Breathtaking and striking at every turn, a film-quality show on TV.

Who Will Win: Breaking Bad. The Emmy’s love it and with it ending the first half of the last season, the week after the Emmy's, it’s a full circle moment.

SUPPORTING ACTOR IN A DRAMA SERIES:

Bobby Cannavale, Boardwalk Empire, HBO

Jonathan Banks, Breaking Bad, AMC

Aaron Paul, Breaking Bad, AMC

Jim Carter, Downton Abbey, PBS

Peter Dinklage, Game of Thrones, HBO
Mandy Patinkin, Homeland, Showtime

Who Deserves to Win: Peter Dinklage. His performance anchors “Game of Thrones”, a dazzling masterwork that deserves every statue he can fit on the mantle.

Who Will Win: Aaron Paul. See previous “Breaking Bad” picks.

Anna Gunn, Breaking Bad, AMC

Maggie Smith, Downton Abbey, PBS

Emilia Clarke, Game of Thrones, HBO

Christine Baranski, The Good Wife, CBS

Morena Baccarin, Homeland, Showtime

Christina Hendricks, Mad Men, AMC

Who Deserves to Win: Christine Baranski. Never seen her give a bad or middling performance.

Who Will Win: Anna Gunn. See previous “Breaking Bad” picks. Plus, she has played the most hated woman on TV and that is not an easy task.

GUEST ACTRESS IN A DRAMA SERIES:

Margo Martindale, The Americans, FX

Diana Rigg, Game of Thrones, HBO

Carrie Preston, The Good Wife, CBS

Linda Cardellini, Mad Men, AMC

Jane Fonda, The Newsroom, HBO

Joan Cusack, Shameless, Showtime

Who Will Win: Jane Fonda. This is a complete guess

Nathan Lane, The Good Wife, CBS

Michael J. Fox, The Good Wife, CBS

Rupert Friend, Homeland, Showtime

Robert Morse, Mad Men, AMC

Harry Hamlin, Mad Men, AMC

Dan Bucatinsky, Scandal, ABC

Who Will Win: Michael J. Fox. It was the buzzed about performance that set the stage for his comeback show.

WRITING FOR A DRAMA SERIES:

Breaking Bad ("Dead Freight"), AMC

Breaking Bad ("Say My Name"), AMC

Downton Abbey, PBS

Game of Thrones, HBO

Homeland, Showtime

Who Deserves to Win: Game of Thrones. Why? Because it is one of the best written shows on TV.

Who Will Win: Breaking Bad. At this point is there a question?

DIRECTING FOR A DRAMA SERIES:

Boardwalk Empire, HBO

Breaking Bad, AMC

Downton Abbey, PBS

Homeland, Showtime

House of Cards, Netflix

Who Deserves to Win: Probably House of Cards. I haven’t seen it though. None of the other shows have blown me away with their directing prowess.

Who Will Win: Boardwalk Empire. The Emmy’s might throw the waning jewel of HBO a bone.
