Eclectic Pop News: War Machine vs. War Horse Podcast: 'White Bird in a Blizzard' Episode

I recently had the pleasure of being a guest on the War Machine vs. War Horse Podcast, a terrific podcast dedicated to movies. If you’re a fan of funny repartee, comparative insights, and movies in general, this is the show for you. On the show, hosts Mike and Shane discuss a new release and compare it to an older release that shares a similar theme. They then debate, which movie tackled the subject better.

On the episode I had the privilege to be a part of; the show discusses “White Bird in a Blizzard” starring Shailene Woodley and Eva Green, which was recently released on VOD. It takes place during the 80’s and centers on the teenage Kat (Woodley) whose mother (Green) disappears one day. The main focus of “White Bird” is that of a missing parent and a child's search for them.

The two older movies discussed share that topic in common. Guillmero Arriaga’s 2008 drama “The Burning Plain” stars Charlize Theron, Kim Basinger and Jennifer Lawrence as women who are each grappling with a complicated mother/daughter relationship and the absence of their mother’s presence. While, 2010’s “Winter’s Bone” (also starring Jennifer Lawrence) deals with the aged-beyond-her-years, Ree (Lawrence), attempting to track down her missing father amidst a conspiracy.

Thanks again to Mike and Shane for having me on their show, it was a great experience. To listen to the episode click here and check out War Machine vs. War Horse on Tumblr by clicking here. You can follow the show on Twitter @warmachinehorse and hosts Mike @Mike_Denniston and Shane @TheShaneWayne
