TV Review: 'Poldark' Season 4

After a depressing third season, hopes of a rebound seemed entirely out of reach. So, imagine the surprise when “Poldark” comes roaring back with the vitality, romance, and enchantment that comprised its first season and Season 2's first half. In Season 4, the state of Demelza and Ross' marriage improves and with it -- the show's as well.

Miniseries Review: 'Desperate Romantics' (2009)

Before his breakout turn as Captain Ross Poldark, Aidan Turner played another role that involved romancing a similarly passionate redhead in the miniseries “Desperate Romantics.” The 2009 BBC miniseries charts the rise of the Pre-Raphaelite Brotherhood, a group founded by a trio of artists when none were doing particularly well with their craft. What is it they say about "faking it until you make it?"

Best TV Of 2017: 'Bates Motel,' 'GoT,' 'Alias Grace,' 'Reign' & More

Another year of quality television has come and gone, and thankfully, there was no shortage of top-notch programming. There were costume dramas that thrilled with edge-of-your-seat danger and beautiful costuming. Action dramas that provided riveting intrigue. While long-running series bid television a fond and “bittersweet” farewell.

Writing About: 'Poldark' Season 3 And Romelza

The third season of “Poldark” has flown by and so has the opportunity to write about it on the Inquisitr. It has been an exciting season to cover, albeit a rather sad one. The original luminosity that once radiated from the series has been replaced by an intensely overcast feeling.

The new tone is not especially surprising given what happened towards the end of Season 2 and that darkness has only grown in the next installment.

With no Jud and less Prudie, there are few laughs, and Ross Poldark (Aidan Turner) brooding about his mistakes, while not openly acknowledging them has only added further tension to the series. Despite all of this, the series is still engaging, and one of the many highlights has been how much the entire cast has continued to impress.

Writing About: 'Poldark' Season 3 + 'Game of Thrones' Season 8

What do “Poldark” and “Game of Thrones” have in common? Besides both series being costume dramas, I have been writing about both of them on the Inquisitr.

“Poldark” Season 3 begins airing on PBS Masterpiece on October 1 and “Game of Thrones” recently ended its seventh season. While both series are in different places in their run, writing about them has been easy to do, as can be seen in previous Writing About features.

The 2017 Emmy Nominations' Most Heartbreaking Snubs

Bates Motel, The White Princess, Reign were among the most heartbreaking 2017 Emmy snubs
Another year of Emmy nominations can only mean one thing: another year of snubs. The 2017 Emmy nominations proved to be no exception. It was an especially brutal year for retiring series and departing actors' final performances. As the 2017 Emmy nominations marked their last chance to be recognized.

With “Game of Thrones” voluntarily out of the running, there was room for other series to make their mark. For long-time readers of Eclectic Pop, the well-known favorites depressingly ignored are easy to guess. Nevertheless, these are the Emmy snubs that have been the hardest to process.

Writing About: 'Poldark' Season 3 Premiere Info & Spoiler Alerts

Oh “Poldark.” What a series. The BBC, PBS Masterpiece series is one of those rare TV shows to have it all - riveting romance, lavish costumes, and exciting adventures. It is these three attributes that make “Poldark” as fun of a show to write about, as it is to watch.

In Ross Poldark (Aidan Turner), audiences have found a dimensional character, who can just as easily inspire one moment, as he frustrates the next. Ross is complicated and so his relationship with his devoted wife, Demelza (Eleanor Tomlinson).

Whether it is in television or movies, the soundtrack (or score) plays a pivotal role in bringing a story to life. There is no greater example of this than the music of the TV series, featured on Eclectic Pop’s list of TV’s Top Costume Drama Soundtracks.
