Song of the Day: 'Catch the Wind' by Donovan

“Catch the Wind” is the willowy single from Donovan’s 1965 album What’s Bin Did and What’s Bin Hid. The song has found constant replay amongst my music collection. Upon first listen you might have mistaken the vocals for that of Bob Dylan, it is not him though. It is the talent of the United Kingdom’s Donovan (Donovan Leitch to be exact).

Movie Review: 'Man of Steel' (2013)

After 7 years away from the silver screen Superman makes his triumphant return in "Man of Steel", another adaptation that begins with the origin story of the world’s most famous superhero. Born Kal-El, the last natural son of Krypton is sent to Earth by his birth parents before their dying world ceases to exist. Discovered by a childless couple on earth, he is adopted and raised as Clark Kent. Equipped with Kryptonian super powers, he is a man with no earthly equal.

TV Report Card | 'Glee' Season 4 Review

Overview: Glee’s 4th season followed the exploits of McKinley High’s new faces and that of former students, Rachel and Kurt, as they headed to New York to make their dreams come true.

Storyline Direction: Glee has always been a really great show and without going any further, there is no other world that TV has created that I wish the real world more closely resembled. Glee is more than a musical and contrary to some people’s opinions, it is not an After School Special. This is a smart, funny, quirky and honest show that is equal parts enlightened education and entertainment.

TV Report Card | 'The Borgias' Season 3, Overall Series Review

Overview: The final season (hopefully that will change) of the epic series saw the “original crime family”, “The Borgias”, band together to fight off threats from outside of the Vatican walls and within them. After last season’s cliffhanger saw the Pope struggling to cling to life, his ambitious so…

Let's Discuss: 'Pretty Little Liars'

'Pretty Little Liars' had its season premiere last week and the premiere was less than exciting. It would be easy to write it off as a case of the beginning blues and perhaps after building a little momentum in the second episode, the season would find its rhythm.

Well, the second episode premiered this week and there was no improvement. What is going on with this show? It seems to have run out of steam as a series as a whole. There seems to be no definitive direction and it is meandering through whatever stories it is trying to tell.

TV Report Card | 'Game of Thrones' Season 3 Review

Overview: The latest season of the epic series delivered with more scheming, flying dragons galore and tragic weddings as the show depicted the first half of George R.R. Martin’s 3rd book in the series, "A Storm of Swords".

Song of the Day: 'Good Hearted Man' by Tift Merritt

Tift Merritt’s “Good Hearted Man” plays like a heavenly slice of dreaminess. It tells the story of a gentleman who sweeps a woman off of her feet in spite of her having given up on her potential to be loved by a man long-term. It is a throwback to the fairytales of old without any dragon slaying. She is a woman content and not in search of an epic love when it finds her in the least expected way.

Movie Review: 'Now You See Me' (2013)

“Now You See Me” follows a team of street magicians, who are given patronage by an unknown source to perform Robin Hood-esque deeds, in the midst of their performances. As a movie that promoted itself as a heist thriller in the vein of “Ocean’s Eleven”, it should be known that comparison is rather misleading; mainly because the film’s heist is not its central focus. It is the catalyst to a broader investigation, involving the team of magicians and their mysterious benefactor.

Movie Review: 'Iron Man 3' (2013)

The latest Iron Man film in the franchise finds our hero, Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.) after the events of The Avengers. As he "recovers" from PTSD by ignoring it, and getting back to business as usual. This includes trying to keep his relationship with Pepper Potts (Gwyneth Paltrow) intact and constructing an Iron Man army. Iron Man 3 is better than Iron Man 2, and not as good as the first.

Song of the Day: 'No One's Gonna Love You' by Band of Horses

Funny story, I heard this song for the first time in the Banana Republic and had to track it down through a lyric search. It's a good example of how great music is surrounding us all the time.

Band of Horses' “No One’s Gonna Love You" is from their second album Cease to Begin. It features wonderful guitar riffs, ethereal vocals and piercing romantic sentiments. For those wondering how a song called “No One’s Gonna Love You” could be romantic, the lyrics actually continue into ‘No one’s gonna love you/more than I do”.
