In the #10 edition of quick hit movie reviews, Eclectic Pop takes a slightly more expanded look at two marvelous movies. The first is an indie from 2013 and the second is an Oscar nominated Swedish-language dramedy. Both are quality films that tackle separately familiar premises with a unique voice.

“What If” and “A Man Called Ove” intricately combine comedy with drama and romance with reality, which is no easy feat. This is how they did it…

The 2017 Emmy Nominations' Most Heartbreaking Snubs

Bates Motel, The White Princess, Reign were among the most heartbreaking 2017 Emmy snubs
Another year of Emmy nominations can only mean one thing: another year of snubs. The 2017 Emmy nominations proved to be no exception. It was an especially brutal year for retiring series and departing actors' final performances. As the 2017 Emmy nominations marked their last chance to be recognized.

With “Game of Thrones” voluntarily out of the running, there was room for other series to make their mark. For long-time readers of Eclectic Pop, the well-known favorites depressingly ignored are easy to guess. Nevertheless, these are the Emmy snubs that have been the hardest to process.

Writing About: 'Game of Thrones' Season 7 & The Starks

“Game of Thrones” has always been the source of a tremendous amount of writing inspiration and that has only increased with Season 7. The HBO hit is one of the few series you can constantly speculate about, without the risk of getting bored, or worse, left wordless.

Thanks to its labyrinth of characters and myriad of storylines, you can write about hundreds of themes without ever stepping outside the “Game of Thrones” universe. While every character and story have their merits, House Stark is where this “Game of Thrones” fan’s heart, truly lies.

Writing About: Why 'The White Princess' Deserved Emmy Nominations + Burning Qs

Promotional Portraits of Henry VII (Jacob Collins-Levy), Lizzie (Jodie Comer) and The Boy (Patrick Gibson) for The White Princess
Even though “The White Princess” went off the air in early June, there has been a lot of follow-up coverage to delve into. While fans await official word on whether or not Starz will green-light a follow-up to Season 1, these three features may help you endure the wait.

Whether it was making the case for "The White Princess" to be nominated for its share of 2017 Emmys, or wading through the burning questions posed by the series' Twitter account, "The White Princess" has provided a wealth of inspiration. This is what I have been writing about “The White Princess” on the Inquisitr. The links to read are in blue.

Let's Discuss: The 'Pretty Little Liars' Series Finale

If you are still processing the “Pretty Little Liars” series finale, you are not alone. You cannot move past a 7-year journey in a few weeks.

Or at least, yours truly cannot. The point of this feature is to go over a few things that stood out in the finale. Here it goes...

Writing About: 'Game of Thrones' Season 7 Romance & Theories

Jon Snow, Tyrion and Daenerys - Character Poster for Game of Thrones Season 7
“Game of Thrones” Season 7 is so close; you can feel fire and ice converging in the atmosphere. It has been a little over a year since “Game of Thrones” ended its sixth season, and the wait for its seventh is almost over. If you are feeling a strange chill in the middle of summer, it probably has to do with the highly anticipated return of the HBO smash.

When we left Westeros, Cersei Lannister had taken command of the Iron Throne. Jon Snow had been declared the new King in the North. While Daenerys Targaryen set sail with her team and new hand, Tyrion Lannister, to take back the Iron Throne and rule the Seven Kingdoms.

Movie Review: 'Bleed for This' (2016)

Movie Poster for 'Bleed for This' - Miles Teller stars in the boxing drama
“Bleed for This” is confidently directed by Ben Younger, stars a cast that has exponentially transformed themselves to physically resemble their real-life counterparts, and yet something is missing. A distracting soundtrack and hurried script make “Bleed for This” hemorrhage the sense of a well-rounded cinematic experience.

The movie tells the true story of Vinny Pazienza (Miles Teller), a World Champion boxer whose life is upended when a near-fatal car accident leaves him fighting for his life and the use of his legs.
