It is currently the most popular series on Netflix. “Who Killed Sara?” is the ambitious dramatic thriller at the top of Netflix’s self-reported Most-Watched list. The Mexican series first claimed that spot when Season 1 premiered earlier this year. Without making fans wait too terribly long, Season 2 is already among them. All of which begs the question. With Season 2 now out, should you binge it?

“Who Killed Sara?” (“¿Quién Mató a Sara?”) is a no-holds-bar mystery couched in loads of sordid family drama (hello,“Yellowstone”) that has every member playing an integral role. Season 1 begins with its “Count of Monte Cristo” storyline in full effect. Alex has served 18 years in prison for a crime he did not commit: the murder of his beloved younger sister Sara.

Never Miss A Post!

When Alex (Manolo Cardona) and his sister were in their teens, Sara (Ximena Lamadrid) died in a parasailing accident. It turned out to be anything other than accidental, though, which led to Alex taking the fall for the crime. When “Who Killed Sara?” begins, Alex asks that question while also seeking revenge on the Lazcano family. He suspects one of them is the truly guilty party, and he is determined to prove it.

If that sounds like a meaty story, you would be right. “Who Killed Sara?” is a non-stop adrenaline ride with a mystery as the driving force behind a dizzying character drama that is equally compelling. Season 1 makes you wonder if it can keep up with an ever-escalating pace. Somehow, it manages always keep the wind behind its sails.

It is impossible not to be impressed. Telling a revenge tale seated in a mystery that traverses two timelines is no easy feat. To its startling credit, there is not a weak link in the chain, and it just keeps getting more robust with every episode. Now that Season 2 is out, it is prepared to add even more fuel to its scorching fire.

After all, Netflix knows what subscribers need as summer begins to sizzle. If you enjoyed “You Cannot Hide,” “Unauthorized Living,” and “Monarca,” you are in for yet another treat by way of the streaming giant. “Who Killed Sara?” shares a lot of its DNA with those shows without feeling like re-tread. The thematic parallels are there without losing a punch of its unmistakable originality.

“Who Killed Sara?” has a winning sense of confidence and self. Will Alex get his revenge? Can he find out who killed Sara? Is the answer as obvious as it seems? Stay tuned. Season 1 has ten episodes, and none of them are lean on content. There is nothing “filler” about this thriller. You will not want to miss a beat of this one.

The TV show is a must-see thanks to everything from the cast to the writing, direction, and production values. To say that “Who Killed Sara?” is another Netflix standout would undersell it a bit. As it raises the bar with every episode, it shows a breathless ability to rise to the occasion of surpassing it. So much has to come together to make this kind of show tik, and boy does it tock.
