Another season of senior figure skating is upon us, and one of the main events in the lead-up to the 2022 Winter Olympic Games is the Grand Prix. When does the 2021-2022 series begin? Well, it is not far off! The greatest skaters in the world will begin competing in October 2021 in six of the seven events leading up to the Grand Prix final in Osaka, Japan.

Here is what you need to know!

Ice Dance Will Be Straight Fire

The senior figure skating Grand Prix 2021-22 series begins on October 22 with 2021 Guaranteed Rate Skate America in Las Vegas, Nevada. Some of the world’s top skaters will be there, including the best that ice dance has to offer. Madison Chock and Evan Bates will make their return to the event aiming for the top spot against on-ice rivals and training mates -- Madison Hubbell and Zachary Donohue.

Chock and Bates recently performed their new programs at the 2021 CS Finlandia Trophy. The duo took home silver at the event. Madison Chock and Evan Bates will be in Las Vegas to show those programs off again to start their Grand Prix 2021-2022, where they will ultimately vie for a spot at the Grand Prix final in Osaka, Japan. The final showdown will begin on December 9.

The Singles Are Ready To Mingle

Among those skating in the 2021 Guaranteed Rate Skate America event in the singles’ division will be Nathan Chen, Vincent Zhou, Alexandra Trusova (aka the Russian rocket), and Trusova’s fellow Eteri Tutberidze student, Daria Usacheva. You can see a full list of those competing here. Unfortunately, 2019 Skate America champion Anna Shcherbakova will not be competing, nor will 2020 Skate America’s Mariah Bell.

Three-time Russian national champion Anna Shcherbakova will make her 2021-2022 Grand Prix debut at the Grand Prix of Italy. Meanwhile, USA Olympic hopeful -- Mariah Bell -- will ring in the start of her season at the Internationaux de France. It is going to be an exciting season, and every event is bringing the drama!

How To Watch

Tune in when the 2021-2022 Grand Prix series begins! Coverage will air on Sunday, October 24, starting at 3 p.m. ET on NBC and end at 6 p.m. ET.
