Song of the Day: 'Roar' by Katy Perry

Rarely do I feel motivated or compelled to cover pop music in the “Song of the Day” section. The reason its being featured is because "Roar" is one of those rare exceptions, a pop song that actually left me awestruck. Katy Perry has been a figure in the pop genre for some time now and has established herself as the zany girl with neon colored hair, lying in a cloud of cotton candy for her album covers.

Movie Review: 'The Wolverine' (2013)

‘The Wolverine’ claws his way back to the big screen in a follow-up to the timeline established in ‘X-Men: The Last Stand’. For those concerned they will not be able to follow this movie’s canon if they missed ‘Wolverine: Origins’; there is no reason to fear. As long as you have seen the latest X-Men movie you will be able to understand everything that is going on.

‘The Wolverine’ is superior to ‘Origins’. It offers a refreshing shake-up to the stilted world that, in previous films, had become overrun with mutants, a move that watered down the uniqueness of their presence.

#6: Lovelace

Amanda Seyfried stars in this biopic of adult film star Linda Lovelace, focusing on her tumultuous, to say the least, relationship with her husband, Chuck Traynor, played by Peter Sarsgaard. The buzz for this movie has sizzled and fizzled since its debut at the Sundance Film Festival.

The middling reception of the overall movie withstanding, this is a make-or-break role for Seyfried whose hot streak since 'Mama Mia!' has since, seen interest in her career wane. One could hope she’ll re-establish herself with what appears from the trailer, to be a brave performance. It is rather apparent that 'Boogie Nights' is the mark they’re trying to hit, how close they come to that very high standard will be up to movie-goers to decide. Release Date: August 9
